Anyway, we were talking about skeuomorphism, which is this early iPhone design Trend when everything on your phone just looked like it would in real life. Instagram’s icon design fit right in with this trend, and it was a really good version of it and skeuomorphism sort of stayed in power for the next five six seven eight years, which is why I think people sort of flipped in 2016 when Instagram changed Their icon from this to this at the time their old icon was not really dated, but it was about to be phones were becoming so ubiquitous that we didn’t really need their apps to feel like the real life counterpart anymore, but people didn 39. T really know that yet, and so they roasted this Instagram redesign, but within a year or so almost everyone came around and acknowledged that this was a great redesign and almost all other apps followed suit.
